Me know. Me have problem.

Me love cookies. Me tend to get out of control when me see cookies. Me know it not natural to react so strongly to cookies, but me have weakness. Me know me do wrong. Me know it isn't normal. Me see disapproving looks. Me see stares. Me hurt inside.

How do you get to Carnegie Hall? [Mar. 28th, 2008|12:39 am]

HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EVERYBODY!!!!!  How's everyone doin'?

Me?  I'm doing well, thanks for asking.

So I'll get right to the point and ask what everyone is doing from June 16th to June 22nd of this year......

Hmmmmmm?

Well, if you're not up to much, and you feel like getting away from home for a while, I will be in New York City during that time; and since I'll have plenty of free time on my hands, I didn't know if anyone would like to get together for a little mini-meet?  If I'm not enough of a reason to get off your ass and have a good time, I can assure you that NYC has plenty to offer.  They have these HUGE ASS BUILDINGS!!!!!  And a giant green chick in a toga!  There's real New York Pizza, and real New Yorkers!  There's plenty of coppertops to gawk at, and plenty of art to steal at The Metropolitan!  And, if you feel like "tagging along" on the 21st for the reason I'll be down in New York, I will be taking my custom '57 Buick Special to a Traditional Hotrod show out on Long Island.  They're going to have music, food, and plenty of loud, obnoxious old junkers to look at and admire:)

I know the notice is a little short, as it's a little less than three months away, but I thought I would let everyone know, as it would be nice to see some of you (some of you not so much.............j/k :P).

Also, if anyone knows how to get in touch with any of our New York friends, feel free to drop me an email at oneiromancersruby@gmail.com

Hope to see you in June!

Sir Arthur C. Clarke has died. [Mar. 18th, 2008|04:28 pm]

Man this is sad news!!
The LA Times (and other outlets) are reporting that Science Fiction great Arthur C. Clark has died at his home in Sri Lanka at the age of 90.  Here's an excerpt from their article:
------
"Sir Arthur C. Clarke, who peered into the heavens with a homemade telescope as a boy and grew up to become a visionary titan of science fiction best-known for collaborating with director Stanley Kubrick in writing the landmark film "2001: A Space Odyssey," has died. He was 90.

The British-born Clarke, who lived in Colombo, Sri Lanka, for decades, died early Wednesday after experiencing breathing problems, an aide, Rohan De Silva, told the Associated Press.
------
Deemed a scientific visionary, Clarke also foretold an array of technological notions in his works such as space stations, moon landings using a mother ship and a landing pod, cellular phones and the Internet.

"Nobody has done more in the way of enlightened prediction," science fiction author Isaac Asimov once wrote.

"I'd say he was
the major hard science fiction writer -- that is the writer of science fiction that is scientifically scrupulous -- in the second half of the 20th century," UC Irvine physics professor Gregory Benford, an award-winning science fiction author who collaborated with Clarke on the 1990 science-fiction novel "Beyond the Fall of Night," told The Times in 2005."

Rest in Peace good sir!

Wachowskis taking on Ninjas next! [Mar. 18th, 2008|02:48 pm]

This should be fun!!
From SciFi.com:
--------------------------
"Chou Stars In Wachowski Ninja Film

Matrix cast member Collin Chou told SCI FI Wire that he will be one of four leads in a new fantasy ninja film from Matrix creators Larry and Andy Wachowski, who will produce but not direct. Variety has reported that the film will be called Ninja Assassin, a title Chou couldn't confirm.

"I don't think I'm supposed to talk about it, but I am working with the Wachowski brothers next month, and I look forward to working with them again on a major movie," Chou said in an interview at the Wizard World convention in Los Angeles over the weekend. "It will be in Berlin." As for the film's title, Chou said: "I don't know if that's the final name yet." Chou played Seraph in the Wachowskis'
Matrix films.

Chou also confirmed a longstanding rumor that he is playing a role that Jet Li turned down. "I have to say that I'm constantly grateful to Jet Li, and I thank him all the time, but that is personal," Chou joked. (Chou co-stars with Li and Jackie Chan in the upcoming fantasy martial-arts film
The Forbidden Kingdom.)

Chou said that the Wachowskis' ninja movie starts production in late April or early May. "And this is a part that is built around me," he said. "They have wanted to have me in a larger part, and I was waiting and waiting for a long time for it to happen. I am one of four of the main characters in this movie. It is a great honor to be on board."

Korean pop star Rain, whose real name is Jung Ji-hoon, is also part of the project and one of the four main characters. Rain, who is in the upcoming
Speed Racer film, was also in last year's Korean film I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK.

Variety earlier reported that the film will be produced by Matrix producer Joel Silver and most likely will be directed by James McTeigue, who also helmed the Wachowski-produced V for Vendetta.

It would be so nice if something made sense for a change [Feb. 11th, 2008|11:59 pm]

The Rabbit Hole is coming to LJ.

I'm bored and missing TMC, so I decided to start a community to deal with the Spiritual, Religious, and well everything we shoved into The Rabbit Hole at the matrix community. I'm hoping I can be allowed to link back to TMClj and also have a heavyly 'inspired' layout.

Of course if anyone has any objections please let me know. And also if anyone is interested in helping out PLEASE.... LET ME KNOW! :p

I have a few posts and a small list of similar minded communities I will be trying to cross pimp in order to get an active member base.

So what do you guys think?

Anonymous Vs Co$ [Feb. 10th, 2008|08:57 pm]
The Matrix Community at Live Journal

I'm not sure how much you guys know of this story, but its interesting on a number of levels. Infact it has peaked the interest of a few researchers at my Uni. Ok the long story I'll try to explain everything. But please be aware these sites may not be work safe, nor family friendly.

Anonymous is the mass used forum-like handle used on a series of mostly image heavy communities called 'Chans'; (http://www.wikichan.org/index.php/Main_Page)a decent wiki that helps transverse the chan universe.

Now largely these chans are the darker side of the internet, like the spam/troll raids we experienced in the TMC forum days from the wrestling fan-boys, the 'chans' sit around swapping, creating and polluting 'Meme' and engaging in behaviour that would make most people concerned and ashamed for mankind. Largely image heavy and often polluted with porn (not even the nice kind) and questionable and/or racist images, they also engage in raids, and undertake internet Guerrilla warfare tatics.

Short version, the bad internet publicity you've heard about likely started with a anonymous and a chan.
http://www.encyclopediadramatica.com/index.php/Main_Page a site which can help one better understand the anonymous mindset.

At some point and some where (actual locations and dates are disputed) the chans start what has become largely a internet based war, with what did they wage war? Scientology.
Yes the Church of Scientology is being attacked online from anonymous.

With the latest attacks, some legal and some illlegal or grey hatted (Hacking and DOS attack), the chans have also started there first IRL raids, protesting at actual Co$ locations.

The one which truely drew my attention was a Sydney based on, some people I know thru irc circles were involved. http://www.flickr.com/photos/thepretenda/sets/72157603878823886/

Fight on Anonymous; I'm all for religious freedom but Scientology isn't free and is just barely a religion.

I suck at linking I know :P

Free Firefly E-Novel [Feb. 7th, 2008|10:55 pm]

Had to post this here as I know there are more than a few Firefly fans around.
Just saw over at the scifi blog IO9 that Fantasy/Science Fiction author Stephen Brust has made his unpublished Firefly novel called "My Own Kind of Freedom" available for free on his website.  I haven't read it yet, but the article at Io9 makes it sound pretty interesting.
Get It Here.
